The Bolulla Queen Route: Challenge and Endless Panoramic Views

The Barranc del Negre to Penya Alta route is a challenging hike that invites hikers to discover the Serra d'Aixortà, one of the natural gems of the Marina Baixa region. This itinerary combines ravines, rocky trails, and steep climbs that reward them with spectacular views of the region and its iconic mountains.

Step-by-step tour

The route begins in the village of Bolulla, from here you can access the Barranc del Negre, a stretch of cobbled and rocky path that climbs the valley, amid Mediterranean vegetation and rock formations that accompany the entire ascent.

The first section crosses the ravine, where you can appreciate the force of nature in the erosion of the rock and the dry riverbed, typical of the area. The climb is demanding, but it allows you to discover increasingly expansive landscapes: Puig Campana and Peña Bernia appear behind us, offering memorable panoramas.

After passing the Barranc del Negre, the trail leads to the summit of Morro Blanc, a natural viewpoint from which you can breathe in the immensity of the Marina Baixa. From there, the ascent continues to Penya Alta (Cima L'Aixortà), the highest point of the route. Reaching the summit rewards the effort with 360° panoramic views, from Aitana, Segaria, La Serrella, and, in the distance, the blue line of the Mediterranean.

The route passes through areas of typical Mediterranean vegetation, with scrubland, scattered pines, and abandoned terraces. It is a nearly unspoiled environment that allows you to experience the mountains in their most authentic state. Furthermore, some sections feature ancient stone paths, a testament to the rural history and ancestral use of these mountains.

The return journey follows a circular route, allowing you to safely descend to the Barranc del Negre and return to Bolulla, ending the route with a sense of fulfillment and connection with nature.
